The Chelsea City Council wrapped up 2017 with a quick meeting and a short agenda.
During the Dec. 19 meeting, the council approved an annexation in addition to a resolution to purchase a new generator for the Chelsea Fire Department.
The annexation was for a 3.24-acre property off of U.S. 280 and was requested by Boardman Land Company LLC. The law offices of Boardman, Carr, Petelos, Watkins & Ogle, which represents the city of Chelsea, is located on the property.
The council also approved a resolution to accept the bid for a 60-kilowatt gas generator for Chelsea Fire & Rescue’s Station 32. The station has been without a generator for several years, said Mayor Tony Picklesimer, and it is now prepared in the case that a natural disaster came through.
“This will give our station the opportunity to have power and to be a beacon for that part of the community [in a natural disaster],” Picklesimer said.
The bid was for $23,702, and the cost of the generator was included in the city’s budget, Picklesimer said, but he wanted to include it on the agenda as a way to be transparent about the purchase.
Also at the meeting, the council approved a resolution to accept Polo Circle, a road in the Polo Crossings subdivision, under the city’s jurisdiction and approved a resolution to pay the city’s bills.
The mayor took a moment at the meeting to remark on the city's recent Christmas parade and the city's first day of municipal court, which took place Monday. Both went very smoothly, he said, and he credited the hard work of many people for that success.
