The Shelby County Planning Commission tonight approved the three requests on its agenda.
At its June 18 meeting, the planning commission first approved a request from Caroline Little, president of Thompson Realty. The case was for Phase III of the Hamlets at Shoal Creek and included a resubdivision of a 2.35 acre lot into four residential lots.
Preliminary plats came before the planning commission in November 2015, Senior Planner Sharman Brooks said, and the final plats have been approved in phases. Phases I and II are already under construction, she added, and the resubdivision and four lots would complete the Hamlet sector.
There is a 50 foot greenway on one of the lots that will be vacated and removed, Brooks said. Following a question from Commissioner Amy Smith, civil engineer Frazier Christy said the greenway were former horse trails that are not frequently used.
The planning commission had no further questions of the applicant and voted unanimously to approve the request.
The planning commission also approved a request to subdivide a 21.14 acre lot into two lots for a rural subdivision. There would be two lots on one portion of the lot, but the remainder of the lot would remain as acreage, said planner Josh Cameron. The request was unanimously approved.
The third and final case was a resubdivision request along Highway 67 just outside of Calera. While one individual spoke against the request, citing concerns about extra runoff going across the street into his son’s property, the planning commission unanimously approved the request.
The next planning commission meeting will be Aug. 6 at 6 p.m.
