In an effort to comply with federal regulations, the Alabama Department of Public Safety’s Driver License Division has scheduled a database conversion the last weekend of April, which will result in a statewide system shutdown April 28-29.
During that time, Driver License examining offices across the state will be unable to issue, renew or reinstate driver licenses and non-driver identification cards. Access to motor vehicle records and Alabama Uniform Crash Reports also will be suspended.
In addition, the temporary system shutdown will affect probate offices, license commissioners’ offices and other agencies and businesses that involve Alabama driver license transactions or reviews.
Normal service is expected to resume the morning of April 30.
