Once Christmas is over, Shelby County is offering a chance to give new life to old Christmas trees.
The county is working with Chelsea, Pelham and Propst Alabaster LLC to recycle Christmas trees at five locations. The trees will be recycled into landscape and in erosion and sediment control materials for county facilities. By allowing drop-off locations for the trees, it will also prevent illegal dumping, said County Manager Alex Dudchock.
Drop off locations will be located in parking lots and designated with orange traffic cones and signage. Trees can be dropped off between Dec. 26 and Jan. 3.
Trees can be dropped off at:
- Heardmont Park on Cahaba Valley Road on U.S. 119
- Chelsea City Hall
- Ray Building on Highway 70 in Columbiana
- AmStar Theatre at the Alabaster Colonnade
- Pelham City Park, at the U.S. 31/ 119 entrance
