Show and Go
Classic cars from across the area will gather this month for Shelby County’s Show & Go benefitting SafeHouse of Shelby County.
The third annual Shelby Show & Go classic and custom car show will return to Shelby County June 11. This year’s show will take place in downtown Mt Laurel and is free for spectators. SafeHouse of Shelby County will host the event, with proceeds benefitting its domestic and sexual violence response and prevention programs.
Shelby Show & Go will open Saturday evening at 4 p.m. with a Sock Hop featuring live music from the Ben Guthrie Band. Registration fees will be required for any participating vehicles, and there is a discount for car owners who register early. Participants may enter their vehicles for judging, and trophies will be presented in various categories.
“Shelby Show and Go raises both funds and awareness for SafeHouse. Mt Laurel provides a fitting atmosphere for the Show and Go. We’re incredibly grateful for the event sponsors, participants and volunteers who dedicate time and resources to supporting SafeHouse,” said Executive Director Erin Melaney Bodden.
SafeHouse provides domestic and sexual violence response and prevention programs. The SafeHouse shelter offers both emergency and transitional housing for those homeless as a result of abuse. It also provides additional services including case management, counseling and legal advocacy. Victims who do not require shelter may receive the benefit of wraparound services through the SafeHouse community services office. The agency also offers violence prevention education, which exposes local youth to the warning signs of abuse and encourages them to pursue relationships built on love and respect.
