The Shake and Bake 5K — scheduled this year for Aug. 4 — takes runners on a route through Mt Laurel.
Mt Laurel will host the 15th iteration of the Shake and Bake 5K on Aug. 4 starting at 8 a.m. For the second consecutive year, all funds raised will be given to Vapor Ministries.
“Vapor Ministries aims to establish sustainable centers for alleviating poverty and multiplying disciples in third-world environments,” said Vapor Ministries Vice President of Marketing Sommer L’ Hoste. “At each Vapor Ministries center, thousands of children, youth and adults are impacted.”
Last year, 143 runners participated and the event raised $15,000. Organizers hope to raise about the same amount this year, too.
The registration must be completed by Aug. 3 and entry fee is $20. There will be awards for the top two finishers in each age group, in addition to monetary awards for the top two overall male and female finishers.
The run will be conducted on a USA Track and Field approved cross country course, through the shaded views of Mt Laurel. Whole families are encouraged to attend as ice pops and local shopping will be available at the conclusion of the race.
L’Hoste said this will be a fun event for a good cause.
“The Shake and Bake Run is a great way to come and support the vision and mission of Vapor Ministries,” L’Hoste said.
