The Chelsea High School boys basketball team took care of Southside-Gadsden on Monday, winning 58-31.
The win was the fifth in a row for the Hornets, who head into the holiday break with a 10-4 record.
The Hornets began the game on fire and outscored Southside 18-4 in the opening quarter, and Southside never closed the gap considerably.
Joseph Lanzi led the way with 16 points on 3-of-5 shooting from three-point range, while chipping in five assists. Matthew Marquet added 11 points, as 11 players scored in the game for Chelsea.
The Lady Hornets fell 91-72 to Southside-Gadsden, behind 42 points from Michaella Edwards.
Both teams are off the remainder of this week, before playing in post-Christmas tournaments next week. The boys team will head to Mobile to play in the UMS-Wright tournament, while the girls head to a tournament at Etowah County.
