Birmingham Restaurant Week is back, and this year boasts a record number of participating restaurants.

More than 70 restaurants will participate in the eight annual BRW, from Aug. 11-20, including several from the 280 corridor. Restaurants along U.S. 280 taking part include ABHI, Dreamland BBQ, Fleming’s, Flip Burger, the Melting Pot, Perry’s Steakhouse and Grille and Satterfield’s.

BRW aims to celebrate Birmingham’s culinary culture and love of local through meal specials around the city. Restaurants will have two and/or three-course, prix-fixe lunch and/or dinner menus for $10, $15, $20, $30 or $40 per person. Some menus will also include beer or wine flight components, brunch offerings and drink specials.

“We are pleased to offer this opportunity to residents of Birmingham and to the restaurants that shape the unique food culture of our community,” said James Little, BRW creator/director and district manager of REV, in a press release about the event. “Our hope is that this 10-day event will draw attention to the top-notch, locally-owned dining opportunities right here in Birmingham as it has in previous years. It really is a great opportunity for local restaurants to gain attention from the community and to get new guests in the seats of their establishments.”

BRW also supports REV Birmingham’s Urban Food Project initiative, which encourages progress from “the fork to the farm,” where restaurants purchase fresh, local ingredients and thereby support Alabama farmers.

“It’s very exciting for us to expand the reach of the Urban Food Project further into this year’s Birmingham Restaurant Week,” said Taylor Clark, director of UFP. “Many of the participating restaurants are already supporters of the Urban Food Project initiative, and we are very much looking forward to adding more.”

In addition to the menu specials, BRW 2017 will have three other events — Preview Party, Wine-o-logy and Harvest Brunch. More information for each of these events can be found at bhamrestaurantweek.com.

“This is one of our favorite times of the year,” says Jorge Castro, owner of Cantina Tortilla Grill. “BRW is truly an incredible opportunity for all parties involved. Birmingham foodies get a chance to dine at their favorite spots or try some place new, while the local restaurants get to know a whole new crowd. Not only has it made a noticeable improvement in our business, but it’s a fun experience and a great way to make our name known in the community by introducing new guests to our restaurant.”
