In addition to public projects, one of Vestavia’s most prominent commercial properties will also see development in the coming year.

At the “700 Acres” in Liberty Park, construction on the new fuel station and On Tap Sports Cafe has already begun, and will continue through the spring.

Vice President of Development for the Liberty Park Joint Venture Shawn Arterburn said that those projects will continue to go vertical through the late spring, and could be open by late summer.

Arterburn said construction on a grocery store and hotel should begin in the final months of the year and early part of 2019, with announcements of the specific tenants for each to be announced over the next few months when contracts are finalized.

“It’s going to be an exciting year. Lots of change and lots of new amenities coming to Liberty Park,” Arterburn said, noting that there would be other restaurants and boutiques announced.

“But those are still very much in the works,” he said.

Additionally, Arterburn said work on a 53-lot development of town-homes and single-family homes should go out for bid. The homes will start at 2,200 square feet, with most being priced in the $300,000 range.

Adjacent to the new residential development will be a three football field-sized park. The park will be a mixture of green space, walking trails and unique playground equipment that will make use of the natural topography of the area.

Arterburn said the Joint Venture is also looking at rebranding the new development area to make it more aligned with the style and character of Liberty Park and the greater Birmingham area.

He suggested residents and those interested to monitor HOA publications and the Joint Venture’s social media for updates.
