Chelsea Motors celebrated expanding its business with a ground breaking ceremony on Tuesday, June 27.

The South Shelby Chamber of Commerce provided hardhats and shovels for city, chamber and Chelsea Motors representatives to sport during a ceremonial photo. The new building for Chelsea Motors will be located near the existing Chelsea Tire and Chelsea Motors buildings on Chesser Drive.

"We're just excited to be a part of Chelsea and the growth," said owner Mike Craft. "Obviously having a service department as an independent car dealership, there's not many of those out there, most of them are franchise dealers. We're proud of the fact that Chelsea Tire supports Chelsea Motors."

Chelsea Mayor Tony Picklesimer said he was glad to be there supporting the first business expansion in his administration.

"It's the first business expansion since I've been in office, and obviously we're very excited about it, and we're excited for the way it will grow their business," Picklesimer said. "We're a sales tax city, and because we don't have property tax, our sales tax base growing is a good thing."
