Former NRA president to speak at Hoover chamber Aug. 17

Jim Porter, former president of the National Rifle Association, will speak at the Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Aug. 17.

The Birmingham attorney will be speaking on the Second Amendment and how it affects the everyday lives of Americans, drawing on his experience as a trustee of the Alabama Forever Wild Land Trust, many leadership positions in the NRA and vice president of the Alabama Rifle & Pistol Association, among many other honors and volunteer positions.

Reservations to the luncheon, held at the Hyatt Regency-The Wynfrey Hotel, must be made no later than Friday, Aug. 12, either by calling 988-5672 or emailing Lisa Dunbar at lisa@hooverchamber.org. Networking begins at 11:15 a.m., followed by the meeting at noon.

For members, the luncheon costs $20, payable at the door. For non-members or those without reservations, the cost is $25. Cancellations for almost any reason are accepted up to the morning of the luncheon.

David Jackson and his Hoover Chick-fil-A restaurants will sponsor the August luncheon.

The Hyatt Regency Birmingham —The Wynfrey Hotel is at 1000 Galleria Boulevard, just off Montgomery Highway at Interstate 459.
