Hollywood Feed is hosting holiday photo shoot mini sessions this month.

The event is part of a fundraising effort for Weimaraner Rescue of the South.

A $20 fee pays for the professionally styled photos. Attendees will also receive a CD with 8-10 edited photos to take home.

“This is not just a cheesy backdrop,” said Bug Greer, a staff member with Weimaraner Rescue of the South. “We’ve got a 3D set with live Christmas trees.”

Weimaraner Rescue of the South is a 12-year-old nonprofit organization that works to save Weimaraners in Alabama, Mississippi, and parts of Louisiana, Tennessee and Georgia.

The all-volunteer organization fosters dogs in need, providing medical care and working to find the dogs “forever homes.” The organization has taken in and found homes for more than 1,200 dogs since its inception.

“We just do whatever it takes to get them healthy,” Greer said.

This is the first year they are holding a holiday photo shoot in the Birmingham area, but Greer said they have seen success with the event in other cities, such as New Orleans.

The photos are not limited to families with dogs, Greer said, and people can bring their goats, cats, birds or other pet. Attendees can also choose to do pet-only photos, people-only photos or take the picture with their pets.

There will be hats, scarves, reindeer antlers and other accessories available at the shoot, but people can choose what they want to wear or bring.

Weimaraner Rescue of the South will accept donations during the event, but donations past the $20 fee are not required. If attendees choose to donate more, the donation is tax deductible and they will receive a receipt.

While this is the first year of the event, Greer hopes it won’t be the last.

“I hope we have a tremendous turnout, and Hollywood Feed is so great to work with,” Greer said.

Hollywood Feed is located at 2800 Cahaba Village Plaza in Mountain Brook. The photo times are Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Nov. 22 from noon to 5 p.m. No appointment is necessary, and any questions can be emailed to contactus@weimrescue.com.
