The South Shelby Chamber of Commerce has announced an acting director to serve during its leadership transition.

Following the departure of executive director April Stone, the South Shelby Chamber of Commerce has announced it is entering a partnership with the Greater Shelby Chamber of Commerce.

Beginning Monday, Feb. 5, the South Shelby Chamber entered a fee for service agreement with the Greater Shelby Chamber. The contract included the appointment of Keyla Handley as acting director of the South Shelby Chamber.

Handley, a Columbiana native, serves as the director of community and career development for the Greater Shelby Chamber of Commerce.

“With more than five years experience at the organization, Keyla will also have the resources and support of her colleagues at the Greater Shelby Chamber throughout her work with our Chamber,” South Shelby Chamber 2018 Chair Jacqueline Gardner said in an announcement sent to members on Tuesday, Feb. 6.

The South and Greater Shelby Chambers have partnered and collaborated in the past, including completing the 2017 co-hosted golf tournament, community meetings, events, career readiness programs and speed working programs, according to the release.

“We are excited about this opportunity to partner with our sister Chamber to ensure that the work of the South Shelby Chamber of Commerce continues as we discuss long and short term plans during this transition period,” Gardner said in the release.

Upcoming events with the chamber include the Feb. 15 Coffee with the Mayor of Vincent and the March 1 South Shelby Chamber of Commerce luncheon.
