Local dance studio celebrates 25 years

Dance South Studio in Chelsea recently held celebrations for its 25th anniversary in June.

The program started as an after-school program for students at Inverness Elementary and has grown to a studio with as many as 320 to 350 dancers. 

The studio now has several competition teams that recently competed at nationals in Panama City Beach, Florida. 

"They took home quite a few championships," Instructor Tina Willis said.

The studio specializes in several types of dance including tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, pointe, contemporary, acro, clog and more. 

"We are excited to be celebrating 25 years in the dance community," owner Nena Maniscalo said. "Our continued success shows that we are a major player in the industry providing with the best dance training and knowledge to shape them into successful individuals once they leave our home."

Going into its 26th year, the dancers are currently preparing for next season with the studio's summer intensive program.
