The Double Oak Mountain area will soon be home to luxury-style living for senior adults.

The Bluffs at Greystone will be located near the Lee Branch shopping center and offer premier independent living and assisted living with everything residents need nearby.

Phoenix Senior Living is a family-run business based out of Roswell, Georgia. Started in 2014, the company has 27 properties, with The Bluffs at Greystone the first property to open in Alabama. There are plans to add another location in Madison later this year.

The four-story building has been under construction for quite some time but is scheduled to open in spring 2020. The property will feature a total of 136 units, 63 for independent living and 73 assisted living. The total space of the new development will be 126,800 square feet.

Designed for ages 55 and older, living options will include studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments. Independent spaces range from 454 to 807 square feet and assisted living range from 471 to 841 square feet. The living spaces feature a neutral theme with granite countertops, carpeted bedrooms and luxury vinyl flooring in the other spaces.

The independent living units will include a full kitchen and washer and dryer. The assisted living ones will have the same size options but feature a kitchenette with no stove.

A diverse range of activity programs will be available daily including volunteer opportunities, Dakim brain fitness, nature exploration, Tai Chi, worship opportunities, arts and crafts, stress reduction exercises and intergenerational programs.

“Our active program is based on the six dimensions of wellness,” Executive Director Elizabeth Milar said. “Those are physical, cognitive, social, emotional, occupational and spiritual. Also, all of our staff go through a certified dementia program to get training.”

Some of the onsite amenities include a state-of-the-art fitness center, a full-service salon, massage and spa area, yoga studio, indoor pool, game room, library and business center, arts and crafts studio and walking trails.

Phoenix Senior Living provides chefs and culinary teams that prepare meals daily. With a pub and bistro, the space will feature indoor and outdoor dining options, table-service dining rooms, themed dinner nights and parties, daily socials, private dining rooms to celebrate special occasions and local farm sourced seasonal fruits and vegetables.

Other features will include an in-house therapy team and home care team, along with a transportation program for shopping, group outings and medical appointments.

“Having Lee Branch right here is great, putting us close to multiple restaurants, Publix, a movie theater and shops,” Milar said. “Our residents really won't have to go far for anything.”

Milar said Phoenix Senior Living is big on intergenerational programming, and there will be children’s play zones inside and also an outdoor playground. During the summer, there is a week of kids camp that is centered around the residents.

The Bluffs at Greystone is now pre-leasing. Residents who move into the property within 30 days of opening will become members of the Founders Club and receive benefits that include a discount of 15% on their rent.

“Getting in early also allows people to pick premium apartments, have a floor preference and more. Pre-leasing has a lot of advantages,” Milar said.

Prospective clients with whom Milar has spoken are those looking at independent living or downsizing. Also residents in nearby Griffin Park have inquired about the property to bring their aging parents closer.

The Bluffs at Greystone will have a staff of a few hundred. In addition to the care team, there will be jobs for the dining team, activities, housekeeping, concierge and more.
