After starting out as a small boutique in Homewood, Molly Green soon moved to a shopping oasis at Riverchase Galleria.

Almost a decade later, the store has found a location a bit closer to home at The Summit.

“Molly is no one person,” Rebecca Masdon, the general store manager, said of the boutique’s name. “She’s more of a personification of easy, free-spirited, adventurous style.”

The Molly Green shopping experience is unique in that shoppers have the option to have one of the stylists style them as they shop.

“You’re really getting a full, engaging experience,” Masdon said. “We go off of what’s new and what’s hitting the runways. We’re very, very on trend.”

“We like to share the trends with our girls in Alabama who may not know it right away. As soon as it hits the runway, it’s hitting Molly Green,” she added.

According to Masdon, as their lease with the Riverchase Galleria in Hoover was coming to an end, the team decided it was time to focus their attention on the U.S. 280 area. When the opportunity to move to The Summit presented itself, it was hard to say no.

“We absolutely love the outdoor mall,” Masdon said. “It’s very ‘us’ because that free-spirited vibe that we have going on, it’s so nice to be able to open our doors. We love this location because it’s such a great mix of people who shop here.”

Masdon added that stores similar to the Molly Green style — like Free People or Urban Outfitters — are also located in The Summit.

To celebrate the store’s grand opening at The Summit, the team held a party in its new location Jan. 5. The first 40 people in the door received a free Molly Green “Be Kind” T-shirt, and the store gave away door prizes throughout the day.

“It was absolutely wild. We were just filled with so much love,” Masdon said. “We had no idea how many people would show up, but it was truly the most humbling experience because we’ve been in the community since 2011, so we’ve been very present.”

Masdon said the goal for Molly Green is to get more in touch with the community, particularly with its outreach programs. The store and its associates will offer their time to local women’s shelters, including donating out-of-season clothing. During the holidays, the store held collections for Toys for Tots. There are many Summit-sponsored opportunities coming up that the store hopes to get involved in, too.

“Every month we do a Sip ’n Shop, and we post it on our Instagram so people know what day,” Masdon said. “We host it out for all of our VIP guests and do a special discount that day. We have cocktails and mocktails and fun cupcakes and just a real fun time.”

Molly Green is located at 310 Summit Boulevard, Suite 108, and is open 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday. Find them at shopmollygreen.com.
