South Shelby Chamber closes year with Diamond Awards

by

The 10th annual Diamond Awards for the South Shelby Chamber of Commerce will take place on Thursday, Dec. 3.

The Diamond Awards are a time to recognize businesses and community members, said April Stone, executive director of the South Shelby Chamber. Chamber members could nominate businesses and individuals for business of the year, new business of the year and citizen of the year during the month of November.

This year, Stone said all nominees will be recognized with a certificate this year.

“I want to make it more about the nominations,” Stone said.

The winner of the Diamond Award will also receive a diamond-shaped award.

The event is also a time to recognize the South Shelby Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Outgoing board members will be recognized, and incoming board members will be introduced.

E.C. Gaston Steam Plant of Wilsonville is sponsoring the event, and Bellini’s will cater the food. Lew Burdette, executive director of the King’s Home, is the guest speaker.

Reservations are required for the event, which costs $15 per person. To RSVP, email Stone at director@shelbycouthchamber.com. The Diamond Awards are also the last chamber event at Columbiana United Methodist Church. Starting in January, the chamber luncheons will be held at Columbiana First Baptist.
