Sweet potato pie shop to open Friday

JaWanda's Sweet Potato Pies has announced plans to open its first location in Inverness on Friday, May 22. 

JaWanda Jackson first started the business in 2010 after requests from her husband, friends and family members became more frequent. 

"I turned a hobby into a business," Jackson said. 

Jackson and her family have sold a variety of sweet potato pies at several farmers markets and boutique stores throughout Birmingham. Flavors include original, marble chocolate, orange creme, pecan sweet and hooey gooey sweet. The store will also offer crusty creme cheese cake, chocolate pound cake, peach cobbler and more.
