A Texas-based western wear retailer will be opening its second Alabama location in Hoover this fall.

Following the opening of a location in Huntsville last summer, Cavender’s will open on U.S. 280 near Alabama 119, next to the Fish Market Restaurant. Based in Tyler, Texas, the chain has more than 75 locations in 10 states, according to its website.

This 15,540-square-foot location will carry the full Cavender’s line of men’s, women’s and children’s western wear, according to company representatives.

The brand is primarily known for its handcrafted boots but will also carry a wide selection of hats, apparel and accessories, as well as work boots, according to a release.

Founded in 1965 by James Cavender, Cavender’s has store locations in Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi and Kansas.

Jennifer Green, a public relations and special events representative for Cavender’s, said the company will issue a formal press release closer to the opening date. No other information was given as of press time.

The grand opening of Cavender’s will be celebrated with a barbecue lunch, prizes and gift cards for the first 50 customers, entertainment and sales, Green said.

Joe Cavender, president and CEO of Cavender’s, said in a statement that the company anticipates a great response from the Hoover location.

“We opened a store in Huntsville, Alabama, in 2017, and the Alabama community has been very welcoming to us. We are excited to open this Hoover location,” Cavender said.
