Women in Business: Lisa Salamone Talton - Strong on Solutions LLC

by

Since Lisa Salamone Talton was 7 years old, she wanted to be a social worker. “I wanted to make a difference,” she said.

But years later as she was working as a social worker in hospice care, an experience she had made her think there might be a different need she could meet.

“I remember trying many times to find resources for people and there were huge waiting lists or they couldn’t afford it or meet the criteria,” Talton said.

So she decided to start her own business, Strong on Solutions LLC, a non-social service agency which — to put it simply — is aimed at helping anyone with mostly anything. She offers Lifeboat Services, which might mean running errands, doing laundry, providing meal prep and delivery, offering support or socialization, taking clients to doctor appointments — pretty much anything, Talton said.

“That might mean seniors, or it might mean someone who’s recovering from surgery,” she said. “It could also mean someone who’s just had a baby. Everyone needs a littlehelp, so I don’t limit myself. We’re a one-stop shop.”

She said she gets her business values from her Sicilian grandparents, who came to Alabama and started a grocery business that made a difference in a lot of customers’ lives.

“I believe people are people — they’re not money,” she said. “People should be more valuable than money. I want to take care of people, to help people and to do what’s right — that’s what Strong on Solutions is about.”
