Two arrested in connection with vehicle break-ins

Rex Charles Brown and Michael Fairchild were arrested in connection with vehicle break-ins at the Narrows near U.S. 280.

Shelby County Sheriff's Office responded to the report of a break-in at about 1 a.m. and encountered Brown and Fairchild attempting to leave the area while deputies were en route. Both the suspects were in possession of multiple cell phones, gloves and a flashlight.

After being identified by witnesses, 26-year-old Brown of Pickens County and 30-year-old Fairchild of Tuscaloosa County were placed under arrest.

Fairchild was arrested on charges of Unlawful Breaking and Entering of a Vehicle, Obstructing Justice and Providing a False Name to Avoid Arrest. He is being held on a $25,000 bond. Brown was arrested on a charge of Criminal Conspiracy and is being held in the Shelby County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
