Asbury United Methodist Church hosted a BBQ & Chili Cook off on Saturday, June 22.

Over 300 people attended the event, which featured 16 chili teams and eight barbecue teams. Barbecue and chili were prepared by church members, and friends and guests enjoyed live music by The Elev8tors along with sweet treats from local ice cream trucks.

All proceeds of the event will go to benefit a new congregational care ministry at Asbury that will support caregivers and their loved ones dealing with memory loss. Anchor Community Respite Ministry is set to launch in spring 2020 to provide fellowship and stimulation for people who have memory loss due to Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s or stroke.
