Giggles & Grace is gearing up for their fall consignment sale that will be held Sept. 6-7. What began as an idea from two church members is now in its 12th year as a spring and fall event at Asbury United Methodist Church.

The sale is run by volunteers who put in over 1,800 hours of time, from setup early in the week to the end of the sale on Saturday.

“We have a co-chair committee of 21 who put in countless hours of prep work to bring the sale to fruition,” publicity co-chair Jennifer McInnish said. “We utilize many gracious volunteers, both youth and adult, and are grateful to all the families who give up their time and energy to help support our mission.”

Over 400 consignors participate in the sale, which includes quality clothing in sizes from newborns to teenagers, shoes, toys, books, baby furniture and more. The sale draws between 1,000 and 2,000 shoppers.

Consignors receive 75% of the sale price of their items, and the other 25% is divided between Asbury’s children and youth programs and missions.

Vouchers for those in need of financial assistance are also available. During the last sale, over 60 families received vouchers for shopping.

Items that are not sold are donated to organizations including Oak Mountain Missions, King’s Home, Foster Care of Shelby County and the Lovelady Center.

“The organizations change over time, but it is a blessing to be able to bless others with these donations over the past 12 years,” said McInnish.

Volunteers and consignors shop early on Thursday night. The sale will be open to the public Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, with some items available for half price on Saturday. For more information, visit asburygigglesandgrace.com.
