Dragon boat teams forming now

The Birmingham Dragon Boat Festival at Oak Mountain State Park is seeking participants for its April 26 race.

The event benefitting Ronald McDonald House charities will begin at 9 a.m. and will continue until approximately 3 p.m. Participation requires no prior experience and can provide opportunities for team building and employee appreciation. The boats are split into teams of 20 paddlers and one drummer with three different team options: corporate team, community team or breast cancer survivors.

In addition to the sport, there will also be food vendors and live music for entertainment. Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to enjoy the activities.

On April 26, Oak Mountain State Park will host an Ancient Chinese tradition — dragon boat races.
