Bridge work in Alabaster could cause delays on I-65

by

Shelby County Engineer Randy Cole encourages drivers to avoid I-65 or adjust their departure times due to roadwork in the area.

ALDOT will be doing bridge work near exit 238 in Alabaster, and traffic will be cut down to one lane. The plan was for work to start at 6 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, but weather prevented that, Cole said. Work was still planned to start on Nov. 9, however, and Cole said it could affect traffic for a full 24 hours.

"It's going to shut down traffic or make a mess there for about 24 hours," Cole said. "Avoid that area if you possibly can. If you can't, please adjust your departure times, observe work zone speed limits ... and use extreme caution."
