Chelsea City Council unanimously approved a rezoning request that was submitted by the Chelsea Planning Commission at Tuesday night’s meeting.

The request was submitted by Del Clayton with Clayton 47 Investments LLC, regarding properties on Highway 47. The two parcels of land are a total of 140.3 acres and will be subdivided into 16 lots. They will also be rezoned from Agricultural-Residential to Residential. A public hearing and voting on the matter will be held at a later date.

Following council business, Chelsea resident Paul Brown of Twelve Oaks subdivision requested the council consider new notification methods when rezoning is being considered.

“At the present time, notices are posted in places like the lobby of the post office and elementary school. These are not places the general public would normally go through,” he said.

Brown suggested placing a sign in front of the property where rezoning is being considered so that the rezoning is brought to the attention of any affected party.
