Chelsea electronics recycling day rescheduled to Jan. 14
Looking to toss out old electronics to make room for holiday gifts? The city of Chelsea is hosting an electronics recycling day this Saturday.
During this E-Day, a collection site will be located at Chelsea City Hall on Jan. 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Individuals can drop off electronics such as computers, printers, networking equipment, scanners and other items to be recycled. There is a fee to recycle some items, including $15 for TVs and CRTs (cathode ray tubes) that are 21 inches or smaller, $30 for TVs and CRTs larger than 21 inches, and $15 for LCD or flat screens that are 40 inches or larger.
The electronics recycling day was previously scheduled for Jan. 7, but was rescheduled due to inclement weather.

- Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) or any equipment containing PCBs
- Microwaves that contain PCBs
- Thermostats, Barometers, Mercury Switches & Relays
- Can Openers, Toaster Ovens, Coffee Makers, Toasters, Smoke Detectors
- Refrigerators, Freezers, Air Conditioners, Dehumidifiers or any unit containing Freon
- Stoves, Washer/Dryers, Garbage Compactors, Dishwashers, Kitchen white goods
- Household Batteries, other than installed in equipment
- Fluorescent Lighting, bulbs, or Ballasts w/PCB’s
- Light bulbs of any kind (including mercury lamps)
- Desk / Office Furniture or Lighting
- Lab and Hospital equipment/devices that contain fluids, oil, mercury or radioactive material
- Biohazards – for example, medical waste including any needles
- Microwaves
