A joint effort between Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and Pelham police led to the arrest of 18-year-old Ian Tyler Rettig.

Rettig was arrested in connection to a residential burglary and eight car burglaries. Pelham police identified Rettig as a suspect in a residential burglary and obtained a search warrant for his residence in Chelsea. Pelham detectives and Sheriff’s investigators then discovered several items which were stolen from car burglaries in the Chelsea and Sterrett area.

Sheriff’s investigators charged Retting with eight counts of unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle, and Pelham police detectives charged him with burglary and third degree theft of property. He has since been released from Shelby County Jail on $50,000 bond.

“We are all very fortunate to have such a positive and professional working relationship with each agency in our county, and I believe the citizens are better served as a result of such,” said Sheriff John Samaniego.
