The Shelby County Sheriff's Office has released a statement that a death that occurred in Highland Lakes was not accidental.

According to the release, the victim is 37-year-old Birmingham resident Constance Leigh Woolweaver, and her death is being treated as a homicide. Sheriff John Samaniego said he does not believe there is any related threat for other Highland Lakes residents, calling Woolweaver's death a "calculated act."

Deputies responded to a call at about 3:45 p.m. on Dec. 14 to a home in the 1000 block of Sheffield Way to investigate the death report. The release from the sheriff's office states that investigators are making progress in identifying the killer.

"This was a senseless act and I am very saddened for her family and friends," Samaniego said.
