Deputies locate possible runaways

The public awareness campaign initiated by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) helped deputies locate two missing teens this week.

According to a release, on Monday, Feb. 10, Dalton Michael Stern and Jacob Ryan Sweeney, both 14 years of age, were reported missing from their homes and believed to have runaway.

Two days later, on Feb. 12, SCSO deputies and Hoover police officers were notified by a member of the public of a possible sighting of the two teens in the area of U.S. 280 and Hugh Daniel Road.

Using the lead law enforcement officers located both teens, who were reportedly safely returned to their parents.

Investigators will continue to follow up with the Stern and Sweeney families. Sheriff Chris Curry thanked everyone who responded with tips as to the possible location of Daniel and Jacob and the many law enforcement officers who assisted in the search.
