Shelby County resident Donna Beaulieu has announced her candidacy for a seat on the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals in the Republican Primary. The primary will be held June 5.

After almost 32 years of working in the legal field, 20 of them as a practicing attorney in Shelby County, Beaulieu said she would like to bring her skills and knowledge to work for the citizens of Alabama as a judge on the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals.

Beaulieu has handled a variety of cases through the years in many different courts in Alabama, according to a press release, and at all state and federal court levels. She has also handled appeals on numerous and varied issues in Alabama’s state and federal appeals courts. Beaulieu also successfully litigated her own Free Speech/First Amendment case that went to the United States Supreme Court, according to the release.

Beaulieu said she has been on the record with her conservative point of view and stands behind those principles, and that she is an unwavering defender of the Constitution. She is always conscious of the need for justice to be done, however difficult the circumstances, but that justice should be based on sound facts and evidence, the truth and the law, according to the release, and she is aware that the question of guilt or innocence, and the law under which someone is charged, deserves fair and impartial review.

Beaulieu has been married to her high school sweetheart for 26 years and has one son who is a registered cardiac ICU nurse. Beaulieu said she is proud of her family’s strong Alabama and American heritage and is looking forward to the opportunity to proudly serve the people of Alabama as a Judge on the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals.
