Former NFL kicker, radio show host Al Del Greco to speak at Hoover chamber

Al Del Greco, a former Auburn and NFL kicker who now is a sports radio show host and Samford University men’s golf coach, is scheduled to speak at the Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Sept. 15.

Del Greco played 17 years in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers, Arizona Cardinals, Houston Oilers and the Tennessee Titans and holds 21 team records with the Tennessee NFL franchise. He holds an NFL record for most consecutive years with at least one 50-yard field goal (10 years in a row). He played in Super Bowl XXXIV with the Titans and is 17th in the NFL on the all-time points list (1,584 points).

He is a five-time winner of the Cadillac NFL Golf Classic and seven-time winner on the Celebrity Players Tour, and played in two Nationwide Tour Events. He formerly was an assistant football coach and head golf coach with Spain Park High School, where his golf team won three consecutive state championships. He was named the men’s golf coach at Samford in May 2014.

Del Greco can be heard daily on JOX 690-AM and 94.5-FM radio, The Sports Monster, with Jay Barker and Tony Kurre on The Opening Drive weekday mornings from 6 to 10 a.m.

The Sept. 15 chamber luncheon is at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham — The Wynfrey Hotel. Networking begins at 11:15 a.m., and the meeting starts at noon.
