Do you know what your child is doing on social media?

In conjunction with the Hoover Police Department, Hoover City Schools is presenting a “Cyber-Citizenship” forum titled “FYI For Parents: Your Child and Social Media.”

Officer John Barnes and Sergeant Mac Hardy will discuss the latest social media trends such as Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook and Twitter, and address the use of social media by child predators.

“Social media has been around for years, but the utilization of these platforms keeps evolving,” said Jason Gaston, media relations with Hoover City Schools. “We want to give parents an up-close look at the latest trends among students and their use of social media, whether good or bad. We are fortunate to have such a great partnership with the Hoover Police Department and look forward to collaborating with them on these community forums.”

Parents will have two chances to attend. The first forum will be presented Aug. 26 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Spain Park High School Theatre, and the second forum will be Sept. 16 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Hoover High School Theatre.
