Hoover School Board approves two new principals

The Hoover Board of Education approved the appointments of two new principals during its June 15 meeting.

Terry Lamar, previously assistant principal of Berry Middle School, is the new principal of Bluff Park Elementary School. Larry Giangrosso, who spent the past three years as assistant principal at Spain Park High School, was promoted to be the new principal at Spain Park, replacing Ken Jarnigan.

Lamar has been with the Hoover school system since 2007, including a three-year stint at South Shades Crest Elementary School from 2010 to 2013. He spent the past year at Berry Middle.

“I’m really looking forward to working with the Bluff Park community. I cannot wait,” Lamar said.

Giangrosso had served the past three years as assistant principal at Spain Park High. He has been in education for 40 years, including 15 years at the old Berry High School, where he served as a teacher and coach.

Giangrosso said he is looking forward to taking over as principal this fall at Spain Park, which has 1,623 students from grades 9 through 12. “I appreciate the leadership I received under Dr. Ken Jarnigan,” he said, referring to Spain Park’s former principal who stepped down to end the last three years of his career in a less demanding role as an assistant band director.
