The Lord Wedgwood charity golf tournament, an annual event that brings sports celebrities together in support of children’s health initiatives, returns to the 280 corridor this month.

On Monday, April 28, the 2014 Lord Wedgwood Links to Life Celebrity Golf Classic will tee off at Shoal Creek at 10 a.m. The playing field for this year’s tournament is limited to only 20 teams of four players. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

The tournament is the culminating piece for two days of charity events that supports efforts of the Lord Wedgwood Charity, Children’s of Alabama and Alabama LifeStart to place automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in schools across the state. Alabama LifeStart works to educate students on AED’s in an effort to help reduce the number of cardiac-related deaths in Alabama.

The Wedgwood Blue Dinner kicks off the series of events at WorkPlay in downtown on April 27 with notable names from the world of sports such as Tim Brando, Bobby Humphrey, TR Dunn, Condredge Holloway, CM Newton, Martin Newton, Jack Crow, Bill Oliver, former Atlanta Braves players Chris Hammond and Greg McMichael as well as many others.

Led by Rick Neuheisel, honorary chairman of the 2014 Lord Wedgwood Links to Life Celebrity Golf Classic, the evening will also include entertainment and live and silent auctions.

Tickets for the dinner are open to the public and cost $140 per person. Individual golf tournament playing spots cost $1,250 and include two tickets to the dinner. Teams are $5,000 and include a celebrity member as the fifth person on the team.
