UPDATE: Two dead in multi-vehicle wreck on U.S. 280

UPDATE: Two people are dead and two are injured following a multi-vehicle car wreck on U.S. 280 in Chelsea, Alabama State Troopers said.

All lanes on U.S. 280 were reopened as off 4:30 p.m. 

The five-car wreck occurred Thursday, May 12 at 1:10 p.m. on U.S. 280 by the Chelsea Walmart, according to a release from Shelby County Sheriff's Office. 

The wreck shut down both westbound lanes and one eastbound lane on U.S. 280 in Chelsea, and the Sheriff's Office alerts drivers to expect long delays in the area and encourages motorists to use Old Highway 280 as a detour.
