Chelsea council, Shelby County Planning Commission meetings rescheduled due to winter weather

Winter weather on Tuesday, Jan. 16 led to the closure of municipal buildings as well as rescheduling of meetings.

Due to winter weather, Chelsea City Hall was closed on Jan. 16 and its regularly scheduled meeting has been cancelled.

The city of Chelsea announced the decision Monday around 6 p.m. after central Alabama was placed under a winter weather advisory due to expected snowfall up to 2 inches and hazardous road conditions.

The Chelsea City Council meeting will now be held Jan. 23. Pre-council will start at 5:30 p.m., and the regular council meeting will start at 6 p.m.

Shelby County also announced that the regularly scheduled Planning Commission meeting, also on Jan. 16, would be cancelled. The items on the agenda, which included a resubdivision request for a property on Alabama 119 and an amended special district request for a property on Eagle Point Drive, will now be discussed at the Feb. 5 planning commission meeting.
