Planning commission approves final plat for Griffin Park Commercial

by

The Shelby County Planning Commission has approved a final plat at Griffin Park Commercial, the area at the front of Griffin Park at Eagle Point.

At its Feb. 19 meeting, the planning commission approved a request to subdivide the 4.52-acre parcel into three commercial lots around three existing buildings, which used to be the Eagle Point Golf Course Clubhouse and Pro Shop. Once subdivided, each lot would hold one building — the clubhouse on one lot, and a commercial building on the other two. Lot one (1.24 acres) would hold a subcontractor administrative office; lot two (1.25 acres) would hold a mortgage broker administrative; and lot three (2.02 acres) would hold the clubhouse.

The planning commission formerly approved an amendment to the special district master plan, which proposed the subdivision of the lots, during its Feb. 5 meeting.

During the Feb. 19 meeting, no presentation on the case was made. Senior Planner Sharman Brooks said nothing had changed since the last meeting, and that the final plat “looks just like the revised master plan from last time.”

The planning commission voted 5-0 to approve the request. Commissioners Samuetta Nesbitt and Ken Wilder were not present at the meeting.

Also at the meeting, the planning commission elected Amy Smith as vice chair, to serve from March 2018 to the last meeting in February 2019.
