During its first meeting of 2017, on Tuesday, Jan. 17, the Shelby County Planning Commission is set to discuss an amended master plan for The Village at Highland Lakes. The amendments are intended to reconfigure portions of the proposed subdivision to accommodate grading, according to the planning commission agenda.

This case was continued from the Dec. 5 Planning Commission meeting to allow Eddleman Properties, the developer of The Village at Highland Lakes, the chance to meet with community members about the amendments.

"We found out there's so many questions that people had about what's going on, to keep any kind of confusion and people upset about this and the wrong thing going out ... We were going to try to get some meetings with different sectors," said Wayne Standifer, a representative of Eddleman Properties.

Also during the meeting, the planning commission will discuss a request for a resubdivision for an unzoned property on Highway 47.

The planning commission meeting is Jan. 17 at 6 p.m. at the Shelby County Services Building in Pelham, located at 1123 County Services Drive.
