Sain Associates will make a presentation regarding the redesign of one of Chelsea’s busy intersections — the corner of County roads 47 and 39 — this Tuesday.

The meeting, set for Aug. 15 at 6 p.m., will take place at Chelsea City Hall and immediately follow the Chelsea City Council meeting.

The intersection, which is located in front of Chelsea City Hall and near the CRX railroad crossing, was recently researched through an APPLE study, and the results of that study will be presented by Sain Associates.

“The consultant will just have a short presentation on what they’ve studied, and we’re going to show what a probably short term solution is,” said Scott Holladay, with the Shelby County Highway and Engineering department.

The meeting is intended to inform the public, Holladay said, rather than present a final plan for the area. APPLE studies are intended to show potential costs and funding opportunities for road projects, and can show how viable a project is, as well as any pitfalls or challenges in the area.

County Engineer Randy Cole mentioned the presentation during the Aug. 14 Shelby County Commission meeting. He said the meeting will go over the cost, potential solutions and what cannot be done at the intersection.

The city council’s pre-council meeting starts at 5:30 p.m., with regular council taking place starting at 6 p.m. The presentation will immediately follow the conclusion of the council meeting.
