The suspect in a robbery at the Lee Branch Walgreens was arrested and charged with two counts of armed robbery, attempting to elude and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held at Shelby County Jail, with bond totaling $501,500.

The robbery was reported at the Walgreens off Doug Baker Boulevard Tuesday around 7:30 p.m., according to a Shelby County Sheriff’s Office press release. Witnesses at the scene provided 911 operators with a description of the suspect and vehicle, and deputies were able to identify a vehicle that matched the description soon after.

Deputies attempted to stop the car, but the driver fled. The suspect, 32-year-old Gregory Christopher Standberry, was stopped and placed under arrest after a short pursuit.

Sheriff John Samaniego thanked Hoover Police Department for its help in the pursuit,

“I am first and foremost thankful that no one was harmed during this incident and would like to thank our invaluable 911 call takers and Sheriff’s Office dispatchers, who were able to calmly communicate with the witnesses at the scene to gather vital and timely information for our deputies responding to the call,” Samaniego said. “I am also appreciative of the Hoover Police Department for their quick assistance in the traffic pursuit.”

Vestavia Hills Police Department Investigators also signed a warrant for robbery in the first degree for Standberry's arrest in connection to a robbery at a Cahaba Heights Shell station on June 29.
