The Shelby County City Clerks Association recently celebrated its 10th anniversary at its quarterly meeting.

The meeting was at the Coal Yard Restaurant in Helena on Dec. 17.

The association was founded by Chelsea City Clerk Becky Landers in December 2005 and has met quarterly since then. Landers served as association president for three years.

During its quarterly meetings, the association shares information and experience pertinent to the city clerk position.

The officers for 2015 were President Margie Handley of Hoover, Vice President Landers, Secretary Amanda Traywick of Helena and Treasurer Marsha Yates of Pelham. In 2016, Landers will serve as president, Traywick will serve as vice president, Stacy Walkup of Harpersville will be secretary and Yates will be treasurer.

During 2016, the association will continue to meet quarterly, and Landers plans to have guest speakers to cover topics and training for the upcoming municipal elections, which will take place for all cities and towns in Shelby County on Aug. 23.

The next Shelby County City Clerk’s luncheon is scheduled for March 16 at the Chelsea Community Center on Shelby County 47.
