Shelby County Sheriff graduates National Sheriffs’ Institute

Shelby County Sheriff John Samaniego graduated the 114th session of the National Sheriffs’ Institute in Aurora, Colorado, according to a press release. The program took place April 9-13. The NSI is the only national executive development program designed for sheriffs, and is co-sponsored by the National Institute of Corrections and the National Sheriffs’ Association.

Samaniego attended the session with 27 other sheriffs from across the country. The training focused on contemporary challenges facing America’s sheriffs today, according to the release. Sheriffs explored the role of the local sheriff in providing leadership in the areas of public safety, criminal justice system policy, community relations and organization effectiveness and efficiency, according to the release.

There have been more than 2,900 graduates of NSI since 1973.
