Police checkpoint to be held on Dunnavant Valley this weekend

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office plans to conduct a traffic safety checkpoint May 24 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and May 25 from 7-9 p.m. 

The checkpoint will be at the intersection of Alabama Highway 25 and Dunnavant Valley Road.

This area has a history of serious motor vehicle accidents, some of them with fatalities, during the spring season. The goal of this checkpoint is to raise awareness and safety.

All deputies at these safety checkpoints will be in uniform, with reflective and plainly visible traffic vests. All Sheriff’s Office vehicles will be plainly marked as law enforcement vehicles. 

The exact locations will be established in the area to maximize the safety of the public and deputies alike. Motorists are encouraged to drive with caution in these areas and at these times and follow the directions of the deputies present.
