Students from the Public Service Academy Career Technical Education Center (CTEC) of Shelby County Schools made a presentation to several Shelby County Sheriff’s office personnel during the Dec. 9 Shelby County Commission meeting.

Gary Griffith is the instructor for the students, who teaches law enforcement and firefighting in the Public Service Program.

Griffith said that during the program, students go through several phases of law enforcement and firefighter training, and one of the most important things they do is mock job interviews.

Several members of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department assisted with these interviews and Griffith and the students wanted to show their appreciation by giving them plaques to show their gratitude.

“The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department helps us out with a lot of things  and have always been great to come anytime we call them,” Griffith said.

The students presented the CTEC Appreciation Awards to Cpt. Jay Fondren, Ltn. Owen Prescott and Ltn. Mark Bishop.
