Spain Park band moves Pops in the Park concert indoors due to rain

The Spain Park High School band program has moved its free “Pops in the Park” concert on Thursday, April 26, indoors due to rain.

The concert had been scheduled to take place at Veterans Park but now will be held in the competition gym at the school. It will feature the Spain Park High School concert band, Shades of Blue jazz band, symphonic winds band and Spirit & Pride drum circle.

The concert starts at 6 p.m. and should be over by 7:15 p.m. Because of the relocation of the concert to the school, Chick-fil-A will not be able to provide food for purchase, as had been planned when the concert was at Veterans Park, school officials said.

The band also is partnering with T-3 Spain Park, a student-led campus organization, to raise money to fight world hunger. Concert organizers are asking people to consider making a donation at the event, with the goal of raising $2,000 to feed 4,000 children.

This post was updated at 12:29 p.m. on April 26 after school officials announced the concert was being moved indoors.
