Suspect in Highland Lakes murder in custody

Two days after the discovery of 37-year-old Highland Lakes resident Constance Leigh Woolweaver dead in her home, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office has a suspect in custody.

According to a sheriff's office release, evidence gathered by investigators point toward 37-year-old Chelsea resident Michael Burrus as the suspect. Burrus is currently held in Shelby County Jail on the charge of murder, with a $500,000 bond.

Woolweaver was discovered dead in her Sheffield Way home on Wednesday. Reports say she was shot multiple times.

“Under these circumstances, I feel words alone are not enough. The loss of a relative or friend is always hard during the Holidays, and, if it is at someone else’s hand, that makes it all the more tragic. If I could, I would wish all of you some comfort through knowing that I believe the person responsible for her death is now in jail and awaiting trial," Shelby County Sheriff Samaniego said in the release.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Woolweaver's two children.
