Veterans Day, Thanksgiving closings schedule

Shelby County offices and Hoover city offices will close for both the Veterans Day and Thanksgiving holidays in 2017, whilesome public buildings will have different holiday hours.

Here is this year’s operating schedule for the two holidays:

Veterans Day, Nov. 11

► Chelsea City Hall: Closed Friday, Nov. 10.

► Chelsea Community Center: Closed Saturday, Nov. 11.

► North Shelby and Mt Laurel libraries: Both libraries will operate with normal business hours.

► Shelby County Schools: Closed Friday, Nov. 10.

► Shelby County Board of Education: Closed Friday, Nov. 10.

► Chelsea trash pick-up with Waste Pro: Trash collection will operate on a normal schedule.

► Hoover Municipal Center and city offices in the Hoover Public Safety Center: Closed Friday, Nov. 10, in observance of Veterans Day, which is Saturday, Nov. 11.

► Hoover Public Library: Closed Friday and Saturday, Nov. 10-11.

► Hoover Recreation Center: Open regular hours (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.) on Saturday, Nov. 11.

► Jefferson County offices (including Hoover satellite office): Closed Friday, Nov. 10.

► Shelby County offices (including Inverness license office): Closed Friday, Nov. 10.

► Alabama Department of Revenue Jefferson-Shelby Taxpayer Service Center at Hoover Public Safety Center: Closed Friday, Nov. 10.

► Aldridge Gardens: Open normal hours (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.) on Veterans Day.

► Hoover City Schools: Closed Friday, Nov. 10.

► Garbage and recycling: Trash and recycling collection will operate on a normal schedule. 

Thanksgiving Holiday

► Chelsea City Hall: Closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 23-24.

► North Shelby and Mt Laurel libraries: Closed Wednesday through Friday, Nov. 22-24.

► Shelby County Schools: Closed Monday through Friday, Nov. 20-24.

► Shelby County Board of Education: Closed Monday through Friday, Nov. 20-24.

► Chelsea trash pick-up with WastePro: Trash collection will not take place on Thanksgiving Day. Any pick-up thatnormally happens on Thursday will take place on the following regularly scheduled service day.

► Hoover Municipal Center and city offices in the Hoover Public Safety Center: Closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 23-24.

► Hoover Public Library: Closing early at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22, and all day Thursday and Friday, Nov. 23-24; closing at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, for the city Christmas tree lighting

► Hoover Recreation Center: Closed Thursday, Nov. 23, but open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24.

► Jefferson County offices (including Hoover satellite office): Closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 23-24.

► Shelby County offices (including Inverness license office): Closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 23-24.
