"Alabama, Then and Now" is a commemorative and educational art exhibition of 30 original paintings in honor of Alabama’s Bicentennial, now on display at Aldridge Gardens.

All paintings were created by members of the Alabama Plein Air Artists (APAA), who gather monthly around the state to paint en plein air outdoors. The paintings depict landmarks and regions of Alabama where these artists live or have traveled. Subjects include bridges, barns, gins, mills, nature, industry, architecture, sports, government and popular culture.

From October 2018 to November 2019, this juried exhibition will tour through Hoover, Fort Payne, Athens, Tuscaloosa, the State Capitol in Montgomery, Pike Road, Auburn, Mobile, Hamilton and Huntsville. Many paintings will be for sale. Entry is free and open to the public.

Through Dec. 3, the exhibit will be on display at Aldridge Gardens. Call in advance to confirm that the gallery space is open for viewing, and not closed for a private event.

This exhibition is officially endorsed by the Alabama Bicentennial Commission. Tour schedule may be found at alabamapleinairartists.com.
