The King’s Home Shelby Auxiliary, a volunteer group that supports the King’s Home, will hold its largest annual fundraiser April 17.

The 2019 Tablescapes luncheon will begin at 10 a.m. at the Metropolitan Church of God off Interstate 459. The event will feature a silent auction, decorated tables, lunch and guest speaker.

Themed “Jewels in His Crown,” the luncheon will honor former First Lady of Alabama Patsy Riley, a King’s Home charter member. Pam Bradford, the luncheon chairperson, said in a press release that the theme represents every woman at King’s Home being a jewel created by God.

According to the release, last year’s silent auction raised about $8,000 for the King’s Home. This year, the goal is $10,000. Proceeds will help offset the operating expenses at the nonprofit’s main location in Shelby County.

King’s Home offers refuge for women and children fleeing abuse, homelessness and domestic violence.

“The women and children residing there are offered hope for a new beginning and fresh start on life,” said Allison Oswald, head of the silent auction, in the release.

Doors for the auction open at 10 a.m., and lunch will follow at noon. Donna Allen, a music evangelist, will be the guest speaker.

Tickets for the event are $45. Corporate sponsorships are available for $1,000 per table.
